Cape Gets Drought Downgrade Was State Officials

State officials have downgraded the Islands Region of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket to a Level 1, or mild drought condition.

Rebecca Tepper, Secretary of the Department of Energy and Environmental Affairs dropped the region from a Level 2 drought designation, following recommendations from the Drought Management Task Force.

This included three consecutive months of near-normal rainfall.

Tepper noted that state and federal agencies will need to continue to work closely to assist with water conservation strategies.

The task force meets again on April 9th.
