Tisbury Settles Police Lawsuit

The town of Tisbury has agreed to settle a lawsuit against the community and a member of its police force.

The settlement pays Danielle Clermont 75-thousand-dollars and ends a complaint filed in Dukes County Superior Court.

Clermont filed suit in January 2022 and charged the town and police Sgt. Max Sherman had kept her out of an open position with the department, and Sherman tried to sabotage her employment with another police agency.

The town has paid out a total of 715-thousand in three separate suits against Sherman, who is still on the force.
