Wareham Closes Five Beaches

The Wareham Health Department is closing five beaches in town because of higher than normal levels of bacteria. Officials say with all the rains we have had of late- that is not abnormal.

The five identified by the town are Briarwood, Forbes, Point Independence, Swift and Pinehurst beaches.

All will be closed until further notice.

Officials say they are continuing to monitor the numbers.

Swimming in the water could expose you to cyanobacteria which can cause harm to both people and your pets.
