State Concerned With Sandwich Beach Replenishment Project

A state agency is expressing concerns about a beach replenishment project in Sandwich.

The Enterprise reports the office of coastal zone management added to the public comments received by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers about the project the Corps is planning to undertake at Town Neck Beach.

The office believes sand taken from Scusset Beach is not compatible with the sand at Town Neck.

It's believed this could cause future erosion problems, and therefore the Army Corps is being urged to limit how much of the material it will use.

The Army Corps says it is working to address the concerns.
