Steamship Authority Meets To Discuss Potential Rate Hikes

The Steamship Authority board of governors met on Tuesday to consider proposed rate hikes for 2021 to cover a projected budget deficit.

The fee increases would be across the board, including walk-on passengers, vehicles, excursion rates and parking.

The board is expected to vote on an operating budget next month.

Good news from yesterday's meeting from Steamship Authority General Manager Rob Davis was that the SSA might not need financial help from the state to cover pandemic-caused losses this year, as the traffic numbers have gotten better from month to month.
