Wareham DNR Police Charge NH Man with Animal Cruelty

A Dover, NH man has been charged with cruelty to animals after being arrested in Wareham for throwing a dog into a dumpster.

The Wareham Department of Natural Resources, on its Facebook page, reports officers were dispatched to Lakeside Trailer Park at 3030 Cranberry Highway and responding officers observed a man removing a small black and white dog from a commercial-type dumpster. The man, who was the dog’s owner, was visibly upset and told officers a person named “James”, who was staying at his house, had thrown the dog in the dumpster. A witness also told the officers a man walked out of the house carrying the dog which he lifted over his head and heaved into the dumpster.

Officers made contact with James Balboni, 28, who said he threw the dog into the dumpster because he was tired, had not slept, and the dog would not stop bothering him. Balboni was charged with cruelty to animals and will be arraigned in Wareham District Court at a later date.

The dog did not sustain injuries from the incident.
