Snakebitten in Hyannis

Hyannis first responders were called to Hiramar Road early Tuesday morning to treat a man who had been bitten by a large snake that has been calling the neighborhood home.

The Hyannis News reports the man apparently tried to apprehend the snake when it let go of a rat it was trying to swallow. That’s when his attempt went ah-wry and he was bitten. Severely enough so that he had to yank his hand free, taking one of the snakes fangs with him under his skin.

He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment. The snake is now in the possession of Natural Resource Officers.
